October 18, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
The Americans will welcome the WHL's newest team, the Wenatchee Wild, to the Toyota Center today for their first ever regular season matchup.
Tri-City defeated Wenatchee 4-2 in both of their preseason meetings, once in Wenatchee and once at the Toyota Arena in Kennewick.
Wenatchee is 3-5-1-0 so far this season, with two of their victories coming in their last three games against Prince George and Kamloops. Their first victory came on opening night as they defeated the Portland Winterhawks 6-5. The Wild most recently played Friday, falling 4-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Both teams will look to get back in the win column tonight as the Americans were shutout 7-0 by the Winterhawks on Sunday.
The Americans have a 12-9-1-0 record with two ties against the ICE franchise. They played in Winnipeg last November, falling 5-4. The Americans lost 3-2 in overtime the last time the ICE visited Kennewick in 2019. In the last ten years the ICE were in Kootenay, the Americans were 8-2-0-0.
