Calgary Hitmen News Release
Lethbridge, AB - The Calgary Hitmen closed out six games on the road tonight in Lethbridge at the ENMAX Centre.
Stellar goaltending was the story once again in tonight's 3-2 overtime loss to Lethbridge. A total of 32 shots were registered between the two teams in the first period, and the shot clock would continue to rise through the next 40 minutes. Lethbridge would find success first with a tally from Noah Chadwick at 5:48 in the first. Ethan Moore would have an answer with under five minutes remaining in the first with his third of the season, unassisted, to tie the game heading into the second period.
Both teams found themselves with multiple power play opportunities in the second, but neither team could capitalize. Two massive penalty kills at the halfway mark by Calgary, including a two-man advantage, kept the game even. Miguel Marques would break the deadlock, netting one with 4:16 to go in the second to give them back the lead going into the final frame.
The third belonged to Calgary, dominating the period outshooting Lethbridge 14-5. Tyson Greenway would score the equalizer and his first in a Hitmen jersey to tie the game on the power play halfway through the third. A breakaway save, Buenaventura's second of the game, would be the deciding factor in regulation pushing the game to extra minutes. Overtime was short lived, with Logan Wormold finding the back of the net 25 seconds in.
The penalty kill was a key factor, killing all five Lethbridge power plays. Shots finished up 39-35 in favour of Calgary. Ethan Buenaventura earned second star for the second game in a row making 36 saves in tonight's contest.
Calgary returns to Scotiabank Saddledome Friday, Oct. 20 welcoming the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds. This will be the first time since the 2019 Calgary hosts the U.S. Division. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at HitmenHockey.com.
