Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Victoria, BC - A two goal 2nd period for the Victoria Royals proved to be enough as Victoria downed the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1 Tuesday night.

The first period was busy for the Tigers and Royals as both teams exchanged early chances and a pair of power plays for Victoria. But Tigers starter Evan May (Nanaimo, BC) would keep things scoreless and the visitors would open the scoring on an incredible individual effort from Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) splitting the defence and beating Royals goaltender Braden Holt at 8:29. Rhett Parsons (Cremona, AB) would draw the lone assist.

Late in the opening 20 minutes, the Royals would respond on a 2-on-1 as Cole Reschny would finish for his second of the season beating May and pushing the score to 1-1 after one.

In the second frame, on an innocent shot from the point ended bouncing off the end wall right on the tape for Robin Sapousek to tap in a shot past Evan May at 4:05, which would be followed up with a transition 2-on-1 for the Royals as Reggie Newman beats May to make 3-1 and take that same lead to the third.

In the final 20 minutes The Tigers mustered chances on early power plays including a Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) shot off the crossbar to make it close but it would not be as the Tigers would give up a late insurance mark for Victoria as Dawson Pasternak would beat Evan May for the final time on the contest.

Victoria would outshoot the Tigers 27-26 while both teams were unable to score with the man-advantage with Medicine Hat going 0/3 & the Royals 0/5.

Next up for the Tigers, it's a tight turn as the Tigers will head to Langley Wednesday night for the second of a back to back with the Vancouver Giants.
