Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced the reassignment of forward Carsyn Dyck, 17, to the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and defenseman Cohen Massey, 17, to the White Rock Whalers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL).

The move brings the Winterhawks' active roster to 25 players.

Dyck has appeared in two regular-season games this season after making his WHL debut in the final game of the 2022-23 campaign. Originally selected in the sixth round, #125 overall, of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Dyck recorded a goal and an assist in five preseason games with the Hawks last month after posting 35 points in 42 games with the Warman Wildcats U18 AAA program last season. The Warman, Sask. native returns to Estevan after skating in one game with the Bruins last season.

Massey skated in his first regular-season WHL games as Portland opened the season in Wenatchee and Kelowna in late September. Originally selected in the ninth round, #191 overall, of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, the Surrey, B.C. native put up 21 points in 31 games with Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep of the CSSHL last season, and now returns to his home province to skate with White Rock.

Both players maintain eligibility to return to the Winterhawks this season.
