Greenville Grrrowl News Release

Greenville, SC – After a scoreless first period, the Greenville Grrrowl scored two second period goals and added an insurance marker in the third period on the way to a 3-0 win over the Richmond Renegades Friday night.

The goal that proved to be the game-winner was scored when MATT DEMARSKI sent a pass to ALEXANDRE BURROWS during a two-on-one. Burrows scored a shorthanded goal :28 seconds into the second period to open a 1-0 lead, and the Grrrowl never looked back. MARTIN MASA scored on a wrap-around with 1:11 remaining in the second, and JUDD MEDAK tipped a MARK GOUETT slapshot past Renegades goaltender Mark Magliarditi at 9:47 of the third period as Greenville ended their 5-game homestand with a 3-0 victory. It was the Grrrowl's third straight win. Richmond outshot Greenville, 34-29, in front of 5,605 at the BI-LO Center.

Goaltender JAYME PLATT stopped all 34 shots for Greenville's first shutout this season. In his rookie campaign last season, Platt recorded a league-high 30 wins and posted his first professional shutout with a 4-0 win over the Pee Dee Pride on January 15, 2002.
