Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Generals have announced goaltender Jamie Hodson has been recalled by the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League. Hodson, a Toronto Maple Leafs contracted player, is already en route to St. John's, Newfoundland, where he is expected to dress for the Maple Leafs this weekend against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Hodson, 22, posted a 2-3-1 mark in six games with the Generals, but his record doesn't tell the story. His goals against average of 2.64 is currently tenth in the East Coast Hockey League, and his .930 save percentage is third in the league. Hodson has been spectacular in his last three games for Greensboro, garnering a 2-0-1 record with a 2.30 goals against average and .947 save percentage, stopping a whopping 124 of 131 shots. Among those games was a 31 save performance in the Generals 2-1 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths last night.

"Jamie deserves this call-up," says Generals head coach Rick Adduono (ah-DOO-no). "He's played sensational in his last several games, and I know he'll do the same when given the opportunity in St. John's. The (Toronto) Maple Leafs are very fortunate to have this young man in their system."

Taking Hodson's place in the lineup is Edgars Eihvalds (I-valds), who has been signed as an emergency backup goaltender. Eihvalds was referred to the Generals by Carolina Hurricanes netminder Arturs Irbe.

The Generals host the South Carolina Stingrays tonight at 7:30, with Adduono facing the team he coached for the last six seasons for the first time. Ticket prices range from $10.00 - $17.00, with tickets as low as $8.00 for students and seniors. Generals Flex Plans for six, twelve, and 18 games are also available for as little as $50.00.
