ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (8-6-5) shut out the Pee Dee Pride (11-6-2) 6-0 in front of a crowd of 6,240 at TECO Arena on Friday night. Recently acquired forward Kevin Brown scored two goals and goaltender Rob Zepp earned his first professional shutout in the win.

After a scoreless first period, the Everblades struck first on a goal off the stick of forward Laurent Meunier at the 3:11 mark of the first period. Forward Ryan Murphy and defenseman Shaun Fisher picked up the helpers on Meunier's third tally of the season. The Everblades then took a 2-0 lead after forward Marty Johnston notched his fifth goal of the season at the 6:25 mark of the period. Forwards Kevin Brown and Tom Nelson registered the assists. Forward Ryan Murphy zipped a shot off the goal post that redirected off of a Pride defender and into the net to give Florida a 3-0 lead. Forward Kevin Brown then notched his first goal as an Everblade on the power play assisted by Marty Johnston and George Awada.

Brown then added an unassisted goal at the start of the third period to give the Everblades a commanding 5-0 lead. Florida finished the scoring with a short handed tally off the stick of Defenseman Duane Harmer at the 15:14 mark of the third period.

Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (8-3-4) stopped all 33 shots he faced while Pee Dee netminder Ron Vogel (5-3-2) stopped 29 of 35 shots. The Everblades were 2 for 9 on the power play while the Pride were 0 for 7.

Florida takes on the Pride on Saturday night at TECO Arena in game two of the two game series between the two clubs. The puck drops at 7:30 PM, the first 2000 ladies through the door will receive a rose for ladies night.
