Plante Recalled by Edmonton; Petiot and Gerber Returned to Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, recalled defenseman Alex Plante and re-assigned defenseman Richard Petiot and goaltender Martin Gerber, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.

Plante, a 6-3, 225-pounder from Brandon, Manitoba has scored 11 points (1-10-11) and served a team high 112 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Barons this season. The Oilers first-round selection, 15th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in 110 games as a professional, recording 21 points (3-18-21) and serving 236 penalty minutes. He has appeared in four games for the Oilers, picking up an assist and serving two penalty minutes.

Petiot, a 6-4, 210-pounder from Daysland, Alberta was recalled by the Oilers March 1. He appeared in two games with Edmonton while on recall. He has scored 12 points (0-12-12) and served 34 penalty minutes in 46 games with the Barons this season.

Gerber was recalled February 25 by Edmonton. He appeared in one game with the Oilers, a 2-1 shootout win over Nashville March 1. Gerber has played three games with Edmonton this season, posting a 3-0-0 record, 1.30 goals against average andn .958 saves percentage. He returns to Oklahoma City with a 19-12-3 record, 2.49 goals against average and .917 saves percentage.

Both Petiot and Gerber are expected back in Oklahoma City in time for the Barons game Friday night against the Abbotsford Heat, the AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames.

The Barons are wearing one-of-a-kind jerseys Friday night that will be available for bids in a live auction following the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit Special Olympics. Also, the first 2,000 fans through the doors will receive a Barons skateboard deck.
