Griffins Greats to be Featured in Auction of AHL 75th Anniversary

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In their continued celebration of the American Hockey League's 75th season, the Grand Rapids Griffins will auction a series of AHL 75th anniversary jerseys bearing the names, numbers and autographs of some of the most accomplished, popular and renowned players from the franchise's 10 seasons in the league.

The first batch of 12 sweaters - identical to those worn by the Griffins during their Feb. 5 game against Milwaukee - will be available through a live auction that will take place immediately after tomorrow's (Sat., March 5 vs. Rochester) game in the Fifth Third Bank Vault restaurant at Van Andel Arena.

A minimum bid of $250 will apply to each of these autographed jerseys, with proceeds benefitting the Griffins Booster Club:

#15 Darren Helm

Other jerseys scheduled to be auctioned at later dates include Tomas Kopecky, Ville Leino, Joey MacDonald, Darren McCarty, Chris Neil, Kyle Quincey, Travis Richards and Mattias Ritola. (Note that Neil played for the Griffins during their IHL tenure but later logged a season with the AHL's Binghamton Senators.)
