Syracuse Crunch News Release

Houston, TX - Josh Green scored the Crunch's lone goal to extend his point streak to seven games, but Jarod Palmer tallied twice for his club, and the Syracuse Crunch fell to the Houston Aeros by a 3-1 score tonight at the Toyota Center in the first of their three-game Texas road trip.

The loss pushed the Crunch's road winless streak to five games. Syracuse travels to San Antonio tomorrow night to take on the Rampage at 8 p.m. EST.

The Crunch looked to get off to a good start and did just that just 2:45 into the game when they took advantage of an early Houston penalty after Green re-directed a Nate Guenin point shot past Josh Tordjman 11 seconds into the man-advantage to put Syracuse up 1-0.

Houston answered to tie the game at 1-1 six minutes later just after a power play expired when Palmer collected the rebound of a Nate Prosser point shot at the top of the crease and slid the puck past J.P. Levasseur.

The score stayed that way until the 13:51 mark of the second period when Houston capitalized on a 5-on-3 advantage after back-to-back penalties by Mat Clark and Green. Patrick O'Sullivan saucered a perfect pass from the goal line extended over to Chad Rau, who one-timed it from the left side past a helpless Levasseur to put Houston up 2-1.

Houston scored its third unanswered goal when Palmer lifted a rebound up over Levasseur from a Robbie Earl bid with 5:32 left in regulation.

The Crunch pulled Levasseur for the extra attacker to try for the equalizer, but could not pull even, sealing a 3-1 win for Houston.
