Aeros Recall Broda from Bakersfield, Sign Fritsch to PTO

HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) team has recalled forward Joel Broda from the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL and signed defenseman Jamie Fritsch to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Broda, 21 (11/24/89), began the season with Houston and was in his second stint with Bakersfield this season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan joined the Condors for four games in mid-December, registering seven points (2-5-7) in those games before being recalled to Houston. He came back to Bakersfield on Jan. 19, and since his return has scored 18 points (12-6-18) in 19 games. For his efforts during February, Broda was the runner-up for the ECHL Rookie of the Month. He scored 11 times to go along with three assists in February. He also was the runner-up for the ECHL Player of the Week last week.

Fritsch, 26 (2/25/85), has appeared in 54 games with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) this season, registering 10 points (3-7-10) and 56 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman skated in two games last season with the AHL ‚¬â„¢s Norfolk Admirals. This is the Odenton, Maryland, native ‚¬â„¢s first AHL appearance of the 2010-11 season. Fritsch also played in 48 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) last season and posted five points (1-4-5) along with 41 PIM.
