Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee carried the load, making 38 saves, but the Norfolk Admirals claimed a 1-0 victory Friday night at the Times Union Center. Dustin Tokarski ultimately won the goaltending battle with a 29-save shutout. Albany is now 23-33-1-3 on the season, while Norfolk improves to 31-17-8-5.

"It's going to happen throughout the year," Frazee said about the low-scoring game. "There are going to be those games where you can't seem to get one. You'll have goalie battles.

"Everyone played well. They cleared lanes for me to see the puck, they cleared rebounds. It was a tough way to go down."

Frazee was playing in his third game since returning from an injury suffered on Jan. 7. He made 13 saves in first, 19 in the second and six in the third. He was coming off back-to-back 22-save performances against Norfolk (Feb. 27) and at Binghamton (Mar. 1).

"He was outstanding," said head coach Rick Kowalsky. "I thought he had a solid game in Atlantic City [vs. Norfolk]. He was real good against Binghamton the other night and this was probably the best of the three he's had. He looked very comfortable and under control. He was square all night. He made the saves he had to make."

It took the Admirals 33 shots to finally find a way to beat Frazee. Chris Durno tipped in a floater from the left corner. Johan Harju was credited with the first assist, while Mike Vernance registered the second helper.

Adam Henrique created some chances for the Devils throughout the contest. Twice he split the Norfolk defense down low only to be denied by the left pad of Tokarski. Henrique was also denied on a shorthanded chance late in the second.

"It was a good hockey game," Kowalsky said. "There were a couple spurts and the guys with stripes stayed out of it. It was physical with speed through the neutral zone and kind of a real grinding game along the walls. It was a heck of a hockey game."

Next up, the Time Warner Cable Cup continues with a home-and-home series between the Devils and the Adirondack Phantoms. Game seven of the regular-season series takes place Saturday, Mar. 5 at the Times Union Center (5 p.m.). The first 4,000 fans to arrive will receive a free team poster courtesy of Miller Printing. Tickets can be purchased at the TUC Box Office or at any ticket master outlet. Fans can also get tickets by dialing 800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com

On Sunday, Mar. 6 the two teams will do battle at the Glens Falls Civic Center (3 p.m.)
