Atlanta Assigns Festerling to Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman BRETT FESTERLING (FEHS-tuhr-lihng) to the Chicago Wolves.

FESTERLING, who was traded to Atlanta by Montreal in exchange for goaltender DREW MacINTYRE on Feb. 28, has posted 16 points (3G, 13A) in 48 American Hockey League games with the Syracuse Crunch and Hamilton Bulldogs this season. He also has skated in one National Hockey League contest with the Anaheim Ducks.

Last season, the 25-year-old blueliner appeared in an NHL career-high 42 games with the Ducks, collecting three assists and 15 penalty minutes. He also recorded five assists and 27 penalty minutes in 28 AHL matchups with the San Antonio Rampage and Toronto Marlies.

Overall, the Prince George, British Columbia, native has accumulated eight assists and 33 penalty minutes in 83 career NHL games with Anaheim, spanning three seasons (2008-2011). He also has tallied 36 assists, 42 points and 178 penalty minutes in 184 career AHL games with the Portland Pirates, Iowa Chops, San Antonio, Toronto, Syracuse and Hamilton, spanning four seasons (2007-2011).
