Pitchers' Duel Leans in Jacksonville's Favor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp tallied their fourth consecutive win with a 2-0 victory over the Gwinnett Stripers on Tuesday night in front of 5,153 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

After five shutout innings, the Jumbo Shrimp (6-7) broke through in the bottom of the sixth with the first runs of the game. Joe Dunand opened the inning with a double against reliever Seth Elledge (L, 0-1) and JJ Bleday was hit by a pitch. After a groundout and a fly out, Nick Fortes knocked a single to score both Dunand and Bleday to give Jacksonville the 2-0 advantage over Gwinnett (5-8).

Jumbo Shrimp starter Max Meyer dazzled again with 5.2 scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. With his five-shutout innings today, Meyer has not allowed a run over his last 10.2 innings pitched. The bullpen contributed nicely as Jake Fishman (W, 1-0) added 1.1 scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Huascar Brazoban (H, 1) tossed one scoreless inning with one strikeout. Jimmy Yacabonis (S, 1) spun one scoreless inning en route to his first save and the Jumbo Shrimp pitching staff's first save of the season.

The Jumbo Shrimp continue their series with Gwinnett tomorrow with first pitch slated for 12:05 p.m.

Gates open at 11 a.m. for Good is Everywhere Wednesday, presented by VyStar. Wednesday's contest also features a Yuengling Business Person Special, where for only $20, fans get a field reserved ticket, a jumbo hot dog, chips, and a Yuengling ($23 to upgrade to dugout reserved).
