Calgary Hitmen News Release

Edmonton, AB - Goaltender Brayden Peters made 41 saves in a first star performance to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday afternoon at the Downtown Community Arena.

The loss was the first of the season for Edmonton, dropping the Central Division leaders to 9-1 while Calgary climbs back to .500 at 5-5-1-0.

After scoreless opening period, Sean Tschigerl put the Hitmen in front with the lone goal of the middle frame. His fourth of the season was a one-time shot up under the crossbar. Riley Stotts on a breakaway notched this third goal of the season early in the third period to make it 2-0 visitors. It stayed that way until Josh Williams put Edmonton on the board on their 38th shot of the game with less than 12 minutes to go. Despite a late powerplay chance and the goalie on the bench for the extra attacker, the Oil Kings were unable to find the equalizer.

Edmonton outshot Calgary 42-22 while both teams went 0-5 with the man advantage.

Calgary will now prepare to face the Medicine Hat Tigers for a trio of games beginning Friday while the Oil Kings will take on the Red Deer Rebels.
