Pens power past Bears 8-1

The Penguins gave HERSHEY its worst loss of the season Monday night in northeast Pennsylvania.

Wilkes-Barre scored the first seven goals of the game before Joey Tenute picked up his 10th of the season at the 18:40 mark of period one. The Penguins scored seven goals between the 9:42 mark ant the 18:40 mark of the period to post the second worst period in terms of goals allowed in team history. The BEARS also allowed seven in the second period of an 8-1 loss to New Haven on January 10, 1992 in New Haven. HERSHEY outshot the Penguins 16-12 in the first period but trailed by six entering the second period.

Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, with the Pens adding a power play goal by Andy Schneider at 19:00 of the third period HERSHEY allowed five power play goals in the game on 14 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton man advantages. The five power play goals allowed were the most allowed by the BEARS since December 5, 2004 at Providence.

The BEARS will host the Albany River Rats Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 508-BEAR. HERSHEY will also be home this New Year's Eve Saturday when the club hosts the Philadelphia Phantoms at 5:00 p.m.
