Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-When the Admirals and Wolves game came down to a shoot-out on Monday night, Milwaukee goaltender Pekka Rinne had an advantage over his Chicago counter-part Tuomas Tarkii. Rinne had already faced two penalty shot attempts in the first period and then saved all four Chicago shootout chances as the Ads got past the Wolves 4-3.

The rookie goaltender almost missed the opportunity pick up the shoot-out win when the Wolves took a 3-2 lead on Jared Ross' goal at the 11:54 mark of the third. However, Admirals center Greg Classen would push the game into OT when he found the back of the net with just 4:38 left in the game. Classen took the rebound of a Darren Haydar shot and slid it underneath Tarki for the game tying score.

Then Milwaukee had to kill off a 2:00 hooking penalty on Sheldon Brookbank at the end of the third period and beginning of the overtime. After Rinne stoned Kevin Doell on the shoot-outs first attempt, Milwaukee forward Rich Peverley made good on his attempt to give the Ads a 1-0 advantage after one round. Haydar, the Admirals' third shooter, gave the team a 2-0 lead when he beat Tarki glove side and then Rinne sealed the deal when he foiled Travis Roche's attempt with a poke check on the Chicago forward.

Milwaukee had picked up a 1-0 lead in the first period when they converted a 5-on-3 power play with Shea Weber's goal 2:26 into the game. The Admirals were then called for two penalties that resulted in Chicago penalty shots. Rinne turned aside the first attempt by Billy Tibbetts at 4:53, but could not stop Kevin Doell penalty shot, leveling the score at one after the first period.

Weber would pick up another score on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game at two at the 14:56 mark of the second.

Weber's two markers paced the Milwaukee offense, while Haydar chipped in with three assists on the night. Rinne, who has turned aside 21 of 24 shoot-out attempts this season, stopped 34 of 37 shots to run his record to 12-7-1 on the season.

The Admirals are back in action tomorrow night at 7:00 pm when they play host to the Peoria Rivermen at the Bradley Center.
