Iowa Chops News Release

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have recalled Iowa Stars goaltender Dan Ellis late this morning. As a result, the Stars have signed goalie Sebastien LaPlante to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).

At the time of his recall, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was in the midst of a five-game winning streak. In those five games, he has allowed just eight goals. Even more impressive was his streak in which he allowed just one goal in each game during the Stars three-in-three weekend from December 16-18. For the month of December, his totals reflect a 6-1 record, with a 1.96 Goals Against Average and a .943 Save Percentage. The one loss came in a 4-3 shootout loss to Milwaukee on December 6th.

Drafted by Dallas in the second round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Ellis' overall numbers show a 9-5 record with a 2.50 GAA and a .922%. He has appeared in one NHL game, making his NHL debut on February 8th, 2004, earning a 4-3 win at Los Angeles.

LaPlante has appeared in 21 games for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He's posted a 11-5-3 record with a .911 save percentage and a 3.10 GAA.

NEXT GAME: The Iowa Stars host the Peoria Rivermen TONIGHT at 7:05 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. All Kid's tickets are just $10! Also, every kid in attendance, ages 2-16, will receive a gift courtesy of the Iowa Stars. Doors open for all games one-hour before face-off.
