
Rivermen announce four player moves

Peoria, IL (December 24, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the Blues have reassigned defensemen Doug Lynch and Andy Roach and left wing Erkki Rajamaki from the Rivermen. He also related that the Blues have reassigned defenseman Zack Fitzgerald to the Rivermen.
Lynch, 22, has left the Rivermen to play for Team Canada in the 2005 Spengler Cup from December 26-31. The Spengler Cup is held annually in Davos, Switzerland, and the competition ranks as the oldest continual club tournament in the world. A 6-3, 214-pound blueliner out of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Lynch has appeared in 27 games with Peoria so far this season and recorded two assists and 57 penalty minutes.
Roach, 32, has been reassigned from the Rivermen to the ZSC Lions of the Swiss Hockey League. In 10 games played for the Rivermen in 2005-06, the 5-11, 181-pound defenseman scored two goals, dished out three assists, and incurred six minutes in penalties. The Mattawan, Michigan, native also saw action this season in five contests for the Blues in which he registered one goal, two assists, and 10 penalty minutes.
Rajamaki, 27, has been reassigned by the Blues from Peoria to the Espoo Blues of the Finnish Hockey League. Although he did not play for the Rivermen this season, the 6-2, 205-pound left winger did appear in five tilts with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL after returning from a shoulder injury. In those five games, the native of Vantaa, Finland, picked up one goal, one assist, and two penalty minutes.
Fitzgerald, 20, joins the Rivermen on a reassignment from the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. Measuring 6-1 and 214 pounds, the defenseman participated in Peoria's 2005 training camp prior to being assigned to Alaska just before the 2005-06 season opened. A product of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Fitzgerald has skated in 12 games for the Aces thus far this season, registering one goal, one assist, and 108 minutes in penalties.
The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
