Bulldogs play four games in five nights

The Hamilton Bulldogs (12-20-0-2) will play four games in five nights to end the calendar year of 2005. Hamilton starts the week with two home games, first facing the Syracuse Crunch (16-11-2-1) on Tuesday, December 27 (7:30 p.m.), and then battling the Rochester Americans (17-13-1-1) on Thursday, December 29 (7:30 p.m.). After Thursday's game, the Bulldogs will travel to Grand Rapids to face the Griffins (22-10-0-2) on Friday, December 30 (7:00 p.m.), before wrapping up the week on Saturday, December 31 when they visit Peoria to battle the Rivermen (16-12-0-1) for the first time (8:00 p.m.).

Team Notes

- In both of the Bulldogs games last week, the shots on goal were even. On Thursday, December 22, both Hamilton and the Cleveland Barons recorded 34 shots on net in the Bulldogs 5-3 win. It was the first time this season that the Bulldogs and their opponent had the same number of shots on goal. On Friday, December 23, both the Bulldogs and the Americans produced 33 shots on net in Rochester's 3-2 victory.

- With their victory over the Barons on Dec. 22, the Bulldogs improved to 2-0-0-0 when playing on Thursdays this season.

- On Thursday, the Bulldogs won for the seventh time in 23 contests when allowing the game's first goal. Hamilton's record when allowing the first goal in 2005-06 is 7-15-0-1.

- On Friday, the Bulldogs suffered their second loss in regulation, and third overall this season when leading after two periods. Hamilton's record when having the lead going into the third period now stands at 8-2-0-1.

Player Notes

- D Dan Smith recorded his 100th career AHL point on Dec. 22 when he earned an assist.

- C Francis Lemieux scored two goals on Dec. 22 to post the first multi-goal game of his professional career.

- C Marc-Antoine Pouliot scored his second game-winning goal of the season on Dec. 22 and is tied for the team lead in that category with Lemieux and Corey Locke.

- Also on Dec. 22, LW Raitis Ivanans (one goal) and D Jean-Philippe Cote (one assist) each earned their first point of the season.

- D Danny Syvret recorded two assists on Dec. 23. Syvret has recorded two assists in three of his last six games, and has a total of seven assists over that stretch.

- RW Andrei Kostitsyn had his three-game point streak snapped against the Amerks. Kostitsyn recorded one goal and two assists during the streak.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27 - SYRACUSE CRUNCH @ HAMILTON BULLDOGS - 7:30 P.M. - COPPS COLISEUM

- The Bulldogs have won two of three games against the Crunch this season.

- In the last meeting between these two teams on December 9, Hamilton goaltender Jeff Deslauriers made 21 saves to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1 shootout victory. Deslauriers was named the game's first star

- Syracuse sits fourth in the North Division, one point behind Rochester and one point ahead of Toronto.

- Ex-Dogs C Peter Sarno has 5 points (three goals, two assists) in six games with the Crunch this season.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29 - ROCHESTER AMERICANS @ HAMILTON BULLDOGS - 7:30 P.M. - COPPS COLISEUM

- The Bulldogs will face the Americans for the fourth time this season, and second in less than a week.

- Hamilton has lost all three meetings against Rochester this season.

- In their last meeting, on Friday, December 23 in Hamilton, the Amerks scored two unanswered third period goals to defeats the ‘Dogs 3-2.

- Rochester ranks third in the North Division with 36 points.

- D Nathan Paetsch leads Rochester in scoring with 28 points (3 goals, 25 assists).

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS - 7:00 P.M. - VAN ANDEL ARENA

- This will be the sixth meeting of the season between these two clubs.

- The Bulldogs have a record of 2-3-0-0, against the Griffins in 2005-06, with one of the victories coming in a shootout.

- Grand Rapids leads the North Division with 46 points.

- Bulldogs C Corey Locke has six points (one goal, five assists) in five games against the Griffins this season.

- Grand Rapids C Eric Manlow has seven points (two goals, five assists) in five games against Hamilton this season.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ PEORIA RIVERMEN- 8:00 P.M. - PEORIA CIVIC CENTER - CARVER ARENA

- This game will mark the first ever meeting between these two teams.

- The Rivermen sit in fourth position in the West Division with 33 points, one point ahead of the Iowa Stars and one behind the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.

- Former Bulldogs C Gavin Morgan plays for Peoria. In 27 games this season, Morgan has recorded 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 47 penalty minutes.

- LW Peter Senja leads the Rivermen with 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 27 games this season.

There are many former Bulldogs currently playing for NHL teams. Here are a few highlights of the accomplishments of ex-Dogs on Friday, December 23.

- Canadiens C Steve Begin scored a goal, while D Francis Bouillon, LW Pierre Dagenais, and RW Michael Ryder earned assists as Montreal dropped a 4-2 decision to the Washington Capitals.

- C Jarret Stoll (one goal, one assist), LW Raffi Torres (one goal), C Shawn Horcoff (two assists), RW Fernando Pisani (one assist), and D Marc-Andre Bergeron (one assist) found the scoresheet for Edmonton in the Oilers' 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

- Stars C Steve Ott scored his third goal of the season as Dallas fell by a score of 3-2 to the Phoenix Coyotes. C Boyd Devereaux had one assist for Phoenix.
