Ryane Clowe recalled by Sharks

CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Ryane Clowe from the Cleveland Barons.

Clowe has split the season between San Jose and Cleveland, earning five goals and seven assists for 12 points in five games with the Barons this season. Clowe began the season with the Sharks, but was assigned to Cleveland on November 20th. He was recalled on December 3rd and has recorded two assists and nine penalty minutes in 16 total NHL games this season.

Last season the native of St. John's Newfoundland registered the second most prolific season in Barons history, leading the Barons in goals (27), assists (35), points (62) and plus/minus (+19). He was honored for his efforts as the team's most valuable player.

The 6-foot-two, 215-pound Clowe appeared in 72 games in his rookie campaign with the Barons in 2003-04. That season he totaled 11 goals and 29 assists (11-29-40) with 97 penalty minutes.

Clowe was selected by San Jose in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Barons will face the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday, December 27th at National City Rink at the Q. The first 1,000 kids 14 & under will receive an autographed puck.
