Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will take a shot at immortality Wednesday night, when they host the Providence Bruins at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza at 7:05pm.

The Penguins, off to a 16-0-1-0 start, have collected at least one point in each of their first 17 games this season, equaling the league mark for consecutive games with a point from the start of the season. The Portland Pirates previously established the record by going 14-0-3 to start the 1994-95 season.

The Penguins can already lay claim to recording the most points by any AHL team through the first 17 games of the season, having picked up 33 of a possible 34 points thus far in 2005-06.

Additionally, the Penguins carry a seven-game winning streak into the Thanksgiving eve tilt, and will take an 11-game road winning streak with them when they travel to Rochester to face-off against the Americans on Friday night.

After Wednesday, the Penguins will play five consecutive road games before returning home to take on the Manitoba Moose on Friday, December 9.
