Stars earn first shutout in franchise history

The Iowa Stars travel to Omaha, Nebraska for a Friday and Sunday game with the Knights. The Knights have defeated the Stars, 1-0 (Oct. 8) and 2-0 (Oct. 25) in the only two times they have played each other. Both of those games came at Wells Fargo Arena. Dan Ellis was the goalie of record in both games. Ellis stopped 44 of 46 shots, giving him a .957 save percentage. Goalie Brent Krahn posted the shutout victories for Omaha, stopping a combined total of 47 shots At print time, Carsen Germyn leads the Knights with 15 points, including a team-high 10 goals.

Seven of those goals came on the power-play, good for eighth place in the AHL. Krahn and Curtis McElhinney have posted three of the AHL's 16 shutouts. McElhinney leads the club with a .923 save percentage--- The Knights are ranked fifth in the 27 team AHL with a 86.8 Penalty Killing ratio, only allowing 19 goals on 144 man-down situations--- Omaha's overall record is 7-8-0-3, 17 points. They host Hamilton on Tuesday.

Peter Sejna paces the club with 21 overall points, via 12 goals and nine assists though 14 games: 14(12/9/21). He is ranked sixth overall in the AHL. Sejna is currently on a seven game scoring streak that has him potting seven goals and six assists in that span--- The Rivermen are 6-3-0-1 at Carver Arena, scoring 31 goals, giving up 25--- Goalie Curtis Sanford is the third ranked goalie based on GAA, allowing just 1.84 goals per game. His .929 save percentage is good for 7th--- The St. Louis Blues reassigned goalie Reinhard Divis to the Rivermen last week.

The Austria-born netminder has appeared in one game for the Rivermen, posting a 4-3 shootout loss to San Antonio on Friday. He made NHL debut in relief vs. Colorado on April 7, 2003 allowing no goals, in doing so he became first Austrian-born player to play in NHL--- They host Chicago on Friday night.

Goalie Mike Smith earned the first shutout in Iowa Stars history with a 1-0 whitewash of the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday, November 19th. Smith made 34 saves in the win.

The Stars have given-up just one power-play goal in their last 22 man-down situations.

Forward Jamie Johnson picked-up points in each of his first four AHL games. The Port Franks, Ontario native had one goal and five assists in those four games: 4(1/5/6). His four game point streak (Nov. 11-18) tied a team season-high record set by defenseman Patrick Traverse (Oct 15-22).

Defenseman Patrick Traverse leads the team with 12 points: (1/11/12), with his goal being the game-winner on November 12th. He is tied for fourth among AHL defenseman in overall points.

Forwards Garrett Burnett (98) and Zack Stortini (91) are listed third and fifth in overall penalty minutes, respectively. Burnett is the only player listed in the Top 10 that is not in double digits in games played. He's played in eight games this season.

In eight games this season, Vojtech Polak has recorded four goals and four assists: 8(4/4/8).

The Iowa Stars have registered three power-play goals twice this season. Iowa potted three man-advantage markers in their first-ever win, a 7-2 victory over San Antonio on October 16th and on Saturday, November 12th, a 5-1 win over Toronto.
