Lock Monsters get back McCormick, lose Ladd
November 21, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release
Lowell, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters lineup shuffling continued with the loss of two players and the reassignment of RW Cody McCormick from the Colorado Avalanche. On Sunday the Carolina Hurricanes recalled LW Andrew Ladd as well. Additionally, the Avalanche reassigned RW Dan DaSilva to the San Diego Gulls of the ECHL and D Eric Nelson was released from his Professional Tryout contract (PTO).
McCormick, 22, appeared in two games with Colorado on his recent stint, without registering a point. In 12 games with Lowell this season, McCormick has one goal and seven points, with 34 penalty minutes, which ranks second on the club. In his last game with the Monsters, he had a goal and an assist with 17 penalty minutes in a 5-4 victory over Hartford on November 12th.
Ladd, 19, was recalled by the Hurricanes on Sunday. The recall comes off the heels of a string of five games in which the rookie had racked up three goals and seven points with Lowell. Ladd made his NHL debut Sunday against Tampa Bay, and skated a regular shift, racking up over 12 minutes in ice time and recording three hits and one shot on goal. Ladd became the fifth Lock Monsters player to be recalled and skate in the NHL this season.
DaSilva, 20, had one goal and three points in 15 games with Lowell. He added 18 penalty minutes and a shootout goal as well with the Monsters. Nelson, 26, was released from his PTO today and will return to the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. The second-year defenseman played in three games with no points for the Lock Monsters.
The Lock Monsters are teaming up with the Lowell Sun to give one fan the chance to win $25,000 at the next Lock Monsters home game, Friday, November 25th against Springfield. If Lowell scores eight goals, one fan in attendance will win the cash. The eight goal stipulation is in honor of the Monsters eighth season in the Merrimack Valley, and is also the team record. The Monsters season-high so far in 05-06 is seven in a 7-3 victory over Springfield in October.
Individual tickets start at $10 and are on sale now at the Tsongas Arena box office, which is open from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Full season, 20-game, mini-plans and Flex Packs are now on sale as well; contact the Lock Monsters ticket office at (978) 458-PUCK (7825) for remaining seat availability. All games, home and away, can be heard live on 980 WCAP with the Voice of the Monsters, Ryan Johnston.
