November 21, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Bridgeport Islanders News Release
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the recall of forward Jeremy Colliton by the big club. The Sound Tigers have also released defenseman Jeff State from his professional tryout contract.
Colliton has four goals, four assists, eight points and 16 penalty minutes in 18 AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season. This will be the first tour of duty in the NHL for the Blackie, Alberta native who was the fourth pick, 58th overall, of the Islanders in the 2003 Entry Draft. Colliton played the past four seasons (2001-05) with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League and also skated for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships. The Islanders have recalled Colliton because Shawn Bates will be out of their lineup four to five weeks with a strained hamstring.
State signed with the Sound Tigers this past Friday and played in three games over the weekend notching an assist and 12 penalty minutes. He returns to the ECHL's Reading Royals for whom he has posted 47 penalty minutes in nine games this season.
The Sound Tigers will begin a stretch of four straight road games when they visit the Syracuse Crunch this Friday, November 25th at 7:30 p.m. and the Philadelphia Phantoms this Saturday, November 26th at 7:35 p.m. All Sound Tigers games are web-cast live at www.soundtigers.com. Fans can also watch all games live on the B2 Networks.
The Sound Tigers' next home games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard will be on Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and 4th when they will host Philadelphia that Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack that Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The Sound Tigers will also be home on Wednesday, December 7th to host the Hershey Bears at 11 a.m. in the third-annual, educationally-themed "Cool Fun 101" morning game.
