Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders used 5.0 scoreless innings from the bullpen to defeat the Rochester Red Wings on Thursday afternoon at Frontier Field, 3-2. It was the first one-run victory of the season for the team, and already the fourth come-from-behind win of the year.
Rochester took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Daniel Palka. That was the only blemish against Nick Green on the day, who worked around five walks in 4.0 innings of work to limit the damage.
The RailRiders battled back in the top of the third, when Cristian Perez led off with a home run off Rogelio Armenteros. It was his first round-tripper since the 2018 season. SWB wasn't done in the frame as four walks brought home another run to tie the game at 2-2.
Kyle Barraclough (2-0) turned in 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings in back of Green, his longest outing of the season, while Adam Warren and Nick Goody turned in one scoreless inning of relief each.
In the top of the seventh, the RailRiders broke through for the go-ahead run against Dakota Bacus (0-1). Andrew Velazquez singled and stole second, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on a Thomas Milone base hit.
Luis Garcia slammed the door shut on the Red Wings with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his league-leading fourth save of the season. Overall four bullpen arms combined for 5.0 innings of one-hit baseball, lowering the team's bullpen ERA to 3.39 on the season.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre continues its six-game series at the Rochester on Thursday night. RHP Brian Keller (0-0, 3.60) takes the mound for the RailRiders, while RHP Jefry Rodriguez (0-0, 7.36) starts for the Red Wings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with coverage on the RailRiders Baseball Network beginning at 6:45 p.m.
The RailRiders return home to PNC Field on Tuesday, May 25 with a date against the Buffalo Bisons. For tickets and more information, call (570) 969-BALL or slide to www.swbrailriders.com/tickets.
