Knights Drop Game Two to Bulls 5-4 in 10 Innings

(DURHAM, NC) -- The Durham Bulls scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to go on for a 5-4 win over the Charlotte Knights in game two of their six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on

Wednesday night.

Charlotte RHP Mike Wright started and was sharp over six innings of work. Making his third start of the season, Wright pitched into the seventh inning and fanned a season-high nine batters. He allowed his only run of the game in the first inning on a

solo home run to Vidal Bruján.

Down by a score of 1-0, catcher Nate Nolan launched his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fifth inning to give the Knights a 3-1 lead.

The Bulls battled back and tied the game up in the bottom of the eighth inning with RBI singles from Bruján and Taylor Walls. The two teams ended up heading into extra innings on Wednesday.

In the top of the 10th inning, left fielder Blake Rutherford pushed across the go-ahead run with an RBI single to make it a 4-3 Charlotte lead. The single also extended his hit streak to seven consecutive games.

In the bottom of the frame, Bruján tied the game with an RBI single and Josh Lowe hit a sacrifice fly to score Brett Sullivan from third base for the win. Charlotte RHP

Danny Dopico (0-1, 4.26) was saddled with the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) in the 10th.

The Knights will continue their six-game series against the Bulls from Durham, NC on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. RHP
