Paul Hewitt Selected as Head Coach for G League Next Up Game

The NBA G League announced today that Ontario Clippers head coach Paul Hewitt will lead a team for the first ever G League Next Up Game at NBA All-Star 2023. The Next Up Game will be held at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Sunday, February 19th at 12 p.m. PT on NBA TV.

In his third season with the Clippers, Hewitt has led the team to a 10-8 record and sixth place in the Western Conference, during the regular season. The Clippers currently sit behind averages of 113.3 points, 45.1 rebounds, 21.4 assists and 5.9 blocks per game. During the G League Showcase, Hewitt led the team to a 15-4 record, which included an eight-game win streak from November 5-22, and the title of Showcase Cup Champions.

The Kingston, Jamaica native received Coach of the Month honors for both November and December 2022, he became just the third G League coach to ever receive back-to-back honors.

The other coach chosen by the NBA was Salt Lake City Stars head coach Scott Morrison.

Twenty-four NBA G League players, including 10 selected by a fan vote, will compete in the Next Up Game. The team captains Luka Garza (Iowa Wolves) and Scoot Henderson (G League Ignite) will select a 12-man roster from the 24-player field during the NBA G League Next Up Game Draft, on February, 14th at 11 a.m. PT on NBAGLeague.com and then at 12 p.m. PT on the NBA App.
