Luka Garza Selected as Team Captain for NBA G League's Next up Game

The NBA G League today announced Iowa Wolves Two-Way center Luka Garza received the most fan votes for the first-ever NBA G League Next Up Game and will serve as one of the team captains. NBA G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson will serve as the other team captain. The NBA G League Next Up Game will take place at NBA All-Star 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. CT live on NBA TV.

Each captain will select a 12-man roster from the 24-player field during the NBA G League Next Up Game Draft, which will be broadcast on Feb. 14 on NBAGLeague.com at 1 p.m. CT and then on the NBA App at 2 p.m. CT. The 24-player field includes players selected by a fan vote and the NBA G League. To view the 24-player field click here. Head coaches Scott Morrison (Salt Lake City Stars) and Paul Hewitt (Ontario Clippers) will lead Team Scoot and Team Luka, respectively.

In eight games with the Wolves this season, Garza is shooting 61.2% from the field, 47.4% from three and 80.5% from the free throw line, averaging 30.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. In 19 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Garza is averaging 5.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game.
