
Wisconsin Herd Falls to the Santa Cruz Warriors

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Santa Cruz Warriors 122-104. The two teams battled back and forth in the first quarter resulting in five lead changes and a one-point difference at the break. The Warriors expanded their one-point lead pushing ahead by six points. The Herd countered to come within two, but the Warriors stayed ahead 56-46 at the half. The Herd worked to stay close to the Warriors, but Santa Cruz slipped away to go ahead by 15 points. The Herd answered, breaking their lead down to four points but it wasn't enough to overthrow the lead. The Warriors beat the Herd 122-104.
Rob Edwards and Joe Wieksamp teamed up to lead the Herd with 17 points each while Joe also tallied a double-double with 10 rebounds. Alize Johnson posted his fourth double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Lester Quinones and Jerome Robinson scored 24 points each to lead the Warriors while Jayce Johnson added 13 points.
Alize Johnson scored six of the Herd's first eight points of the game. The Herd stepped ahead with a four-point lead on the Warriors at the seven-minute mark. The Warriors responded with an 8-0 run to go up 21-18. Paris Bass hit a three-point shot to tie the game, but the Warriors stole it back again. The Herd tied the game once more before the end of the first quarter. The Warriors led 26-25.
Jordan Bone hit the first basket of the second quarter to push the Herd ahead 27-26. The two teams traded the lead five times before the Warriors ran ahead by six points at the eight-minute mark. A.J. Green swished a jump shot to stop the run, but the Warriors added back-to-back baskets, going up by eight points. The Herd responded with six unanswered points to come within two points. Lindell Wigginton hit a stride with nine straight points. Alex Antetokounmpo threw down a dunk, but the Warriors closed out the quarter with consecutive baskets. The Warriors had the advantage 56-46 at the half. The Herd was guided by Alize Johnson with 10 points.
The Warriors opened the third quarter with four three-point shots. The Herd returned every three with a basket for themselves, but the Warriors still crawled ahead. Rob Edwards and Alize Johnson combined for four points to bring the Herd within 11. Alize Johnson hit a layup followed by a three-point swish by Rob Edwards. The Herd continued to power back cutting down the Warriors lead to six points with four minutes remaining. The comeback continued with the Herd outscoring the Warriors 9-2 to close out the third quarter. The Warriors remained ahead 85-79.
The Herd out hustled the Warriors to come within four points at the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter. The two teams traded baskets before the Warriors worked to 19-point lead. The Herd combined for six points but remained down by double digits. Rob Edwards hit back-to-back baskets for five points and Paris Bass added a three-point shot to close out the game for the Herd. The Warriors beat the Herd 122-104.
The Herd hits the road to take on the Capital City Go-Go on Friday, February 10 with tip-off at 6:00 p.m. CST.
