The Raptors 905 and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital have set the Guinness World Records title for the 'Largest Gathering of People Wearing Capes.' More than 2,854 supporters donning red Capes for Kids packed an arena at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ont. The previous Guinness World Records title was 2,266 capes.
Raptors 905 (8-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, were defeated by the Maine Celtics (10-7) 112-115 Monday evening. Raptors' assignee Dalano Banton led the 905 with 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Maine was led by Luka Samanic with 23 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks.
The two teams exchanged baskets in the opening 12 minutes, with the 905 taking a five-point lead going into the second. A balanced scoring effort allowed the Celtics to take control of the ball game in the second quarter, as they ended the half with an eight-point advantage.
The 905 came out of the break strong, outscoring the visitors 32-24 in the quarter, and tying the match up at 85 apiece.
The 905 saw complementary scoring from Ryan Hawkins who had a career-high 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Celtics were paced by Marial Shayok who put up a game-high 27 points, four rebounds, and one steal.
The two teams complete their season series Wednesday morning, tip-off slated for 11 am.
