South Carolina Stingrays News Release
N. CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced that goaltender Davis Parley has been recalled to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
The call-up is a first for Parley, 24, who was a fourth round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently in his fourth year of professional hockey and his second with the Stingrays. The Grenfell, Saskatchewan native has a 19-10-3 record this season with a 3.25 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. The 6'2", 182-pound Parley's season highlights include his shut-out against the Florida Everblades on Dec. 22nd and his 19th win last weekend, a career-high.
Parley becomes the sixth player called up to the AHL in the 06-07 season following Daren Machesney, Marc Busenburg, Matt Stefanishion, Jamie Fraser, and Kyle Wilson, who was signed to a Hershey contract earlier this month.
The Stingrays begin their stretch of six games on the road starting on Thursday as they travel to Beaumont, TX to face the second-place Wildcatters for three games in three days. Listen to all the action live with Voice of the Rays Mike Kelly by logging onto www.stingrayshockey.com. The Benito's Pre-game show begins 15 minutes prior to the puck drop.
