Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned defenseman Keaton Ellerby to the club and have recalled forward Michal Repik. In a related move, the Amerks have also released forward Aaron Bendickson from his 25-game professional tryout.

Ellerby, 22, returns to Rochester after receiving his second promotion to the big club this season, where he has tallied three assists and four penalty minutes in seven games. Florida's first-round selection (10 th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-4, 186-pound blueliner earned his first NHL point and multi-point game with two assists in Florida's 4-3 win over the New York Islanders on October 23rd. In four American Hockey League contests with the Amerks this season, the Strathmore, Alberta, native has recorded one assist and two penalty minutes.

Repik, 21, earns his first trip to South Florida after a productive start to the 2010-11 season. He departs as Rochester's top point-getter with a team-high 18 assists and 22 points, having skated in all 17 games of the season thus far. Playing at more than a point-per-game pace, the third-year pro also currently leads the league in assists, while being tied for second overall among the league's top scorers. Repik also has a team-best eight assists on the power-play, good enough for second in the league. Prior to his call-up, the Vlasim, Czech Republic, native posted a personal-best eight-game point streak, one he captured scoring three goals and 10 assists for 13 points from October 25th to November 10th. In 24 career NHL appearances, all with the Panthers, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward has registered seven points (5+2) and eight penalty minutes.

Bendickson returns to the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators after serving a brief seven-game stint with Rochester. The Thief River Falls, Minnesota, native signed a 25-game professional tryout with the Amerks on October 28th and made his American Hockey League debut the following night against the Worcester Sharks. Bendickson netted his first AHL goal on November 10th at Binghamton, helping the Amerks to a 6-4 win. At the time of his recall, the 24-year-old rookie led Gwinnett in both points (nine) and assists (seven) through just the first four games of the campaign. He also led all ECHL rookies and was tied for first among the league's top scorers in all overall scoring.

The Amerks kickoff a season-long four-game homestand on Friday, November 19th as former head coach Randy Cunneyworth and his second-place Hamilton Bulldogs return to The Blue Cross Arena. The first 5,000 fans that night will receive customized Amerks SillyBandz. The 7:35 p.m. matchup will be the third of 10 scheduled meetings between the North Division rivals this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. It will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
