Marlies Look to Keep Rolling on the Road Tonight in Hamilton; Return to Ricoh on Saturday

Marlies goaltender Jussi Rynnas was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. In three games last week, Rynnas posted a record of 3-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and 0.971 save percentage. The Marlies are currently 6-0-0-2 on their 10-game road trip.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- Jussi Rynnas ranks third in the AHL in both goals against average (1.95) and save percentage (0.936). Over his past five games, he's stopped 150 out of 155 shots he's faced, posting a 1.05 goals-against average and 0.968 save percentage during that span. The Pori, Finland native has won three consecutive games.

- Joey Crabb has scored a goal in five of his past six games. Crabb's seven tallies pace the Marlies.

- The Marlies are 7-1-0-2 on the road this season and their penalty kill unit ranks seventh in the league at 88.6% away from Ricoh Coliseum.

- Since being reassigned by the Maple Leafs two weeks ago, forward Mike Zigomanis has posted 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in eight games with the Marlies. He's recorded at least a point in five of his past six games.

- Justin Hodgman is currently on a Marlies season-best five-game point streak, during which he's tallied two goals and five assists.

- Defenceman Mike Brennan ranks fourth (tie) in the AHL with a plus-10 rating.

- Despite being called up last week, Nazem Kadri ranks third in the AHL in rookie scoring with 14 points (five goals, nine assists). Kadri's nine assists pace him second out of all rookies.

- Matt Lashoff ranks tied for ninth in the AHL in defenceman scoring with 11 points (two goals, nine assists).

- Josh Engel paces all AHL defenceman in game-winning goals (two) and shootout goals (two).

- Jerry D'Amigo has tallied a point in four straight games.

Last Week:

The Marlies continued their road trip with four games last week and improved their record to 6-0-0-2 on their 10- game swing. Toronto opened their week with a 4-0 victory in Hartford. Jussi Rynnas made 33 saves and the Marlies power play clicked for two goals.

On Thursday in Adirondack, the Marlies surrendered the game's opening goal, but then notched five unanswered goals for their second straight win. Twelve different Marlie players recorded at least one point in the 5-1 win.

On the weekend, Toronto picked up wins over the Hershey Bears (3-2) and Binghamton Senators (4-3). Christian Hanson's goal with under three minutes to play on Friday night propelled the Marlies past the back-to-back Calder Cup champions.

Toronto closed out the week on Saturday with a one-goal win over the Senators.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies continue their 10 game road trip on Tuesday night in Hamilton. Toronto will face off against the Bulldogs three times this week, with back-to-back home games at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday.

Hamilton ranks second in the division and post a 7-2-1-0 record on home ice. Christian Hanson leads all Marlie skaters with three points (one goal, two assists) in two games against the Bulldogs.

The Marlies are 1-1-0 against Hamilton this season, with both games being played at Copps Coliseum. In total, the two QEW- rivals will play 10 times this season. Sunday's game will air live on CBC.

The Marlies travel to Cleveland on Friday night to finish their longest road trip of the season. It will be the second meeting between the two teams. The Monsters defeated the Marlies on October 30 by a 4-1 score.

Toronto scored the opening goal, but Lake Erie responded with four unanswered tallies.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank second in the Atlantic division with a record of 7-5-0. The Royals are currently on a four-game winning streak. Ben Scrivens ranks third in the ECHL in save percentage (0.931) and eighth in goals against average (2.46).
