Pair Of Sound Tigers Recalled By Islanders

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the recall of Forwards Mattias Weinhandl and Jeff Hamilton by the big club.

Weinhandl has three goals, five assists and eight points and is a +7 in ten games with the Sound Tigers this season. He is currently on a two-game goal streak and a four-game point streak with two goals and two assists in that time. Weinhandl split last season between the Sound Tigers and the Islanders.

Hamilton is the Sound Tigers' leading scorer with 23 points and leads all AHL scorers with 17 goals, 11 power-play goals, six first goals and five game-winning goals. He also has six assists and is a +6 in 20 games with the Sound Tigers this season. Hamilton is currently on a five-game goal and point streak with six goals and one assist in that time. This will be the first NHL call-up for the former Yale Bulldog.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Albany River Rats this Friday at 7 p.m. They will return home to Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Hershey Bears this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Friday's game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. This weekend's home games will be web cast only at www.soundtigers.com.

Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
