Jeff Hamilton Named AHL Player Of The Week

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced Right Wing / Center Jeff Hamilton has been named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week. Hamilton also received his first-ever NHL call-up to the Islanders earlier today.
Hamilton had four goals and an assist in three games last week. He opened the week with a goal and an assist in the Sound Tigers' 5-4 Thanksgiving road win over the Binghamton Senators then scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 shutout of the Hartford Wolf Pack at home Friday and added two power-play goals, including the game-winner with 29 seconds left in overtime, as the Sound Tigers posted a 4-3 road win over the Lowell Lock Monsters Saturday.
In recognition of his achievement, Hamilton will receive a Sher-Wood leather jacket, which will be presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an upcoming game at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard, and Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to several Bridgeport-area youth hockey organizations in his name.
Hamilton currently leads the League with 17 goals, 11 power-play goals, six first goals and five game-winners. He is also on his second five-game goal streak of the season and leads the Sound Tigers with 23 points in 20 games this season.
The Sound Tigers will visit the Albany River Rats this Friday at 7 p.m. They will return home to host the Hershey Bears this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Friday's game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. This weekend's home games will be web cast only at www.soundtigers.com.
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
