Bears Announce Busy Monday of Roster Moves

December 1, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced a series of roster moves today between the team's two NHL parent clubs, and also among its minor league affiliates.

The BEARS announced today in conjunction with the Colorado Avalanche that center Charlie Stephens and defenseman Brett Clark were both re-assigned to HERSHEY. Both players were healthy scratches Sunday in Colorado's 1-1 tie with the New Jersey Devils at Pepsi Center in Denver.

In conjunction with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the BEARS announced today that right wing Shane Willis has been recalled to the Lightning. At the same time, Tampa Bay announced that center Martin Cibak has been assigned to HERSHEY. In 10 games this season, Cibak has one goal and three points for Tampa Bay. He is expected to be available when the BEARS play Philadelphia on Wednesday night at GIANT Center.

In two other roster moves, the BEARS assigned forward David Masse to Reading (ECHL) and recalled rugged right wing Rob Voltera from Quad City (UHL). Voltera, HERSHEY'S penalty minute leader in 2002-03, will make his return to the lineup when the BEARS play Philadelphia Wednesday.

The BEARS begin the month of December with the top point total in the AHL, and play three games this week. After hosting Philadelphia at 7:30 on Wednesday, HERSHEY travels to Bridgeport for an early East Division showdown with the Sound Tigers Saturday night. The BEARS return to GIANT Center Sunday for a home game with Syracuse. Face-off Sunday night is at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available all this week at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
