BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Dany Sabourin made 35 saves and the Providence Bruins scored two third period goals en route to a 3-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Friday night at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The loss snapped the Sound Tigers five game home-ice winning streak and dropped them to 21-18-1-3 on the season.

Trevor Smith put the Sound Tigers on the board with 5:48 left in the first period. Jesse Joensuu led a rush into the offensive zone and sent a pass through the slot to Smith. As he charged to the net, Smith redirected the puck behind Sabourin and into the back of the net for his 13th goal of the season. The assist extended Joensuu's point streak to nine straight games.

"Our line has only been playing together for two weeks but we've seemed to click well," Smith said. "We have a good mix of power and skill."

Providence tied the game with a power-play goal 6:05 into the second period. Mikko Lehtonen sent a back-door pass through the slot to Drew Larman who one-timed a shot into the open left side of the net to even the score.

Just 45 seconds after the Bruins tied the game, Greg Mauldin netted his team- leading 13th goal of the year to give Bridgeport the lead back. Mauldin took a pass from Smith in the face-off circle and snapped a hard shot just inside the left post.

Lane MacDermid tied the game for Providence 16 seconds into the third period. Jordan Knackstedt fired an initial shot wide of the goal. The puck bounced off the end boards, caromed in front of the net and landed on MacDermid's stick. He fought off a Sound Tiger defender and lifted the puck into the top of the net.

With 6:19 left in regulation, Kirk MacDonald brought the puck into the offensive zone and sent a shot towards the net which Scott Munroe sticked wide. However, as the puck bounced away it hit off the stick of Sound Tigers defenseman Brett Westgarth and trickled into the goal. MacDonald was credited with his ninth goal of the year.

The Sound Tigers outshot the Bruins 37-25. Munroe made 23 saves in a losing effort for Bridgeport.

"I thought we played extremely well tonight," Sound Tigers Head Coach Jack Capuano said. "I thought the team deserved better."

The Sound Tigers are back in action Saturday when they visit the Albany River Rats. Face-off at the Times Union Center is set for 5:00 pm. The Sound Tigers return home on Sunday afternoon when they host the Worcester Sharks at 1:00 pm. For tickets, please call TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000.
