Syracuse Crunch News Release

Springfield, MA - The Syracuse Crunch tied a season-high with six goals to extend their season-long winning streak to four games with a 6-3 win over the Springfield Falcons tonight as the MassMutual Center.

Defenseman Dylan Reese notched two goals, while Tomas Kana, Trevor Frischmon and AHL All-Star Dan Fritsche added one marker each and Jonathan Sigalet matched a Crunch individual season-high with three assists.

The Crunch controlled the early action, but were denied in goal by a familiar face as former goaltender Andrew Penner stopped some early chances and wound up with 10 saves in the first period.

Syracuse's early momentum was thwarted, however, after taking three penalties in a seven and a half minute span, leading to a Springfield power play goal to open the scoring at the 18:35 mark.

Colin Fretter moved the puck to Chad Wiseman in the left corner, who quickly fed the disk to a wide open Benoit Pouliot in the slot. Pouliot's wrister beat Dan LaCosta to the glove side to give Springfield the 1-0 advantage.

After giving up a late goal to go down one, the Crunch took over in the second period, scoring four straight goals in less than 10 minutes to catapult themselves to a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Kana got the Crunch started after sweeping home a Brendan Bell point feed on the power play past Penner at the 9:06 mark to tie the contest at 1-1.

Just 2:41 later, Jared Aulin gained the zone on a rush up the ice, drew two defenders to him and dropped a pass on the left wing for Reese, who placed a low shot just inside the right post past Penner to give the Crunch a 2-1 advantage.

Just 34 seconds after Reese's goal, Kevin Harvey slid in down the right side and backhanded a pass over to Frischmon. The Ham Lake, Minnesota native one-timed the biscuit behind Penner to put Syracuse up by a 3-1 count.

Reese's second goal made it 4-1 when Penner had trouble finding his harmless wrister from the right point with a minute and a half left to go in the second.

Springfield got the game back to within two when Liam Reddox punched in a rebound past LaCosta to make it 4-2 six and a half minutes into the third stanza.

The Crunch had an immediate answer when Mike Blunden found Radja with a long outlet pass down the right side and Radja ripped a slapper from inside the blue line down the left side through Penner's five-hole to make it 5-2.

Fritsche added his ninth of the season at the 17:59 mark before Viacheslav Trukhno's meaningless tally with 56 seconds left sealed a 6-3 Crunch win.
