
Otters Strike out 15 Rascals in 10-4 Win

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (44-27) struck out 15 hitters, one shy of their season high, in a 10-4 win over the River City Rascals on Saturday night at Bosse Field.
RHP Preston Olson (7-3) received the win, going 6.2 innings and striking out 11 batters in the victory.
All-Star infielder Shayne Houck went 3-for-4 on the night with three RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 10 straight games for the Otters.
Houck started the scoring for Evansville with an RBI single off River City righty Joe Cuda in the third.
Olson, who struck out seven batters through 3.0 innings, retired 10 of the first 11 batters he faced before running into trouble in the fourth. River City scored four runs in the inning including a two-run home run from Jon Myers and another two-ru n double by Steve Carillo.
Trailing 4-1, Evansville responded with a four run bottom of the fourth inning. John Schultz brought home a run with an RBI single, Phillip Wilson scored another on a groundout and Houck plated two more with a single to left field.
The Otters added a run with a Jeremy Nowak infield single in the sixth for the 6-4 lead.
Evansville pulled away late with a four run eighth inning. River City walked in two runs with the bases loaded, Nik Balog tacked on an RBI single and Kolin Conner capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.
The Evansville bullpen threw 2.1 innings allowing just one hit in the win.
Schultz finished the night 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Catcher Kolin Conner was 2-for-4 in the game with a run and an RBI as well.
The Otters and Rascals will meet on Sunday night in the middle game of the series. It is Kenny Kent Chevrolet Night at historic Bosse Field. Evansville will have RHP Edgar Lopez on the mound making his professional debut against River City righty Kyle Brady (0-3, 6.06 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 pm CDT.
