
Otters Open up Series against First Place River City

(EVANSVILLE INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (43-27) continue a six-game homestand with the series opener against the first place River City Rascals (44-28) on Friday night.
First pitch is set for 6:35 pm CDT at historic Bosse Field in Evansville Indiana. Fans can call 812-435-8686 to purchase tickets.
Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Mike will have the call beginning at 6:15 pm CDT.
It is Rockport Lincoln Pioneer Village and Swat Pest night. Abraham Lincoln will be in attendance to throw out the first pitch and there will also be postgame fireworks as well.
Evansville will have RHP Preston Olson (6-3, 2.42 ERA) on the mound against River City righty Joe Cuda (team debut). Olson has notched 10 quality starts in his 13 appearances this season. His ERA is the fifth lowest in the Frontier League this season.
The Otters won their first series of the roadtrip two games to one against the Joliet Slammers. Evansville split the doubleheader against Joliet on Thursday. After a three hour 12 minute rain delay, the Otters lost the first game 3-1 but managed a split with a 7-5 win in the final game that ended at 1:53 am CDT. The Otters then were victorious in the series finale on Friday 6-4. Jeremy Nowak hit two home runs and Shayne Houck belted his 19th home run, tied for most in franchise history (Jeff Goldbach - 2005).
The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on July 16. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.
Houck is on an nine game hitting streak for the Otters. Outfielder Jeremy Nowak has hit safely in five straight. Outfielder John Schultz is on a four game hitting streak.
The Otters are 23-14 at home this season.
