Last time out...

The Freedom split a double header with the River City Rascals on Friday, dropping game one by a score of 7-4 and winning game two by a score of 9-4. Sam Eberle gave Florence a 1-0 lead in game one of the double header with a RBI single in the fifth but River City tied the game thanks to an unearned run in the bottom half of the frame. Then they exploded for six runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a Jon Myers three-run home run. Florence rallied for three runs in the seventh on doubles by Eberle and Sosnoskie but it wasn't enough. Florence responded in game two as Eberle homered in the first. River City briefly took a 2-1 lead but the Freedom scored four times in the second to take the lead for good. The inning was highlighted by Bryan Soloman's first pro hit and a Zak Blair RBI double. Adam Taylor added a homer in the third and more RBI hits from Sosnoskie and Eberle helped them pull away late.

For Starters...

Casey Henn makes his 15th start of the season for the Freedom tonight. He is coming off a tough outing against the Traverse City Beach bums on August 2, giving up six runs, four earned, on seven hits over four innings in a 10-1 defeat for Florence. He walked a season-high five in the defeat. In his sophomore season Henn has been one of the Freedom's best pitchers, tallying 78 strike outs, good for a tie for third most K's in the Frontier League. Henn had a sensational rookie season for the Freedom, posting a 5-0 record with a 3.67 ERA for Florence fresh out of Wright State University. In nine appearances, eight starts, Henn struck out 38 batters in 49 innings while only allowing only 39 hits.

Against Corn...

This is the CornBelters' first trip to UC Health Stadium this season. Florence went 1-2 at the Corn Crib back in early June. They lost game one of the series 4-2, won game two of the series 6-3 and lost the rubber match by a count of 3-2.

Mr. Double...

Zak Blair has 22 hits with the Freedom. 11 have been doubles. He is second on the team behind Sam Eberle (13) in doubles despite only having played in 29 games.

Home is where the wins are...

The Freedom have a winning record at home this season at 21-20.

Series struggles...

The Freedom have dropped five consecutive series. Their last series victory was when the y took two out of three from Schaumburg here at UC Health Stadium July 22-23.

Excellent Eberle...

Sam Eberle is first among active Frontier League players in On-Base Percentage at .435. He leads the Freedom in batting average (.319), runs scored (40), hits (75), doubles (13), RBI (35), walks (44), Slugging (.481) and OPS (.916).

What happened to the relief?!

The Freedom's bullpen ERA has gone up every month. It's gone from 1.59 in May to 4.50 in June to 5.18 in July and now 7.06 in August.

One run struggles...

The Freedom have a record of 9-16 in one-run games this season.

The Freedom have not given up a lead nor come back from a deficit of more than four runs.

The Freedom released INF Tyler Heck today. They signed INF Rolando Gomez.
