Norfolk Tides Pitcher Oliver Drake Prepares to Throw

The International League today announced that Tides RHP OLIVER DRAKE has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week. He is the first Tides player to take home a weekly honor this season.
Over the last week, Drake registered four saves over four scoreless appearances, as he held IL batters to an .077 average (1-13) with 10 strikeouts and one walk. The U.S. Naval Academy product has not allowed an earned run over his last 14 appearances, over which he's held IL batters to a .143 average (7-49) with 25 strikeouts and two walks over that 14.0-inning span. He has earned 10 saves and posted a 2.03 ERA in 27 games with Norfolk this season.
Drake was named to the 2015 International League Midseason and Postseason All-Star Teams, and he was a co-winner of the Jim Palmer Prize as the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He was also named the Minor League Reliever of the Year in 2015 by MiLB.com.
In 70 career outings with Norfolk, Drake has posted a 1.24 ERA while registering 68 more strikeouts (110) than hits allowed (42) in 72.2 innings pitched. Drake's 33 career saves with Norfolk are the most for a Tides player as an Orioles affiliate and are the 6th-most in franchise history.
