June 20, 2016 - International League (IL1) News Release
The International League announced today that Louisville outfielder Scott Schebler and Norfolk reliever Oliver Drake have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from June 13-Â19.  Schebler is the second member of the Bats to claim an IL weekly award in 2016, following pitcher Daniel Wright (May 16-Â22), while Drake is the first Tides player to be so honored this season.Â
SCOTT SCHEBLER, Louisville Bats IL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Louisville's Scott Schebler his .318 over the past week and led the International League with 9 RBI, five extra-Âbase hits, 19 total bases, three triples, and a .864 slugging percentage.  He also added a pair of home runs, giving him a League-Âbest six long balls in the month of June.  He's hit safely in 15 out of 17 games this month, including five out of six games this week.  He also drove in at least one run five times this week, highlighted by a season-Âhigh 3 RBI in Monday's 7-Â1 win against Syracuse.  Despite not joining the Bats until May 9, Schebler is the team leader this season in both triples (4) and home runs (7).  25-Âyear-Âold Scott Schebler is in his seventh season as a professional player since being selected by the Dodgers in the 26th  round of the 2010 draft.  He was acquired by Cincinnati this past offseason as part
of the three-Âteam trade that sent Todd Frazier to the White Sox.  He is a veteran of 46 games in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers and Reds.  Schebler is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Â
OLIVER DRAKE, Norfolk Tides IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Tides' right-Âhanded closer Oliver Drake was a perfect 4-Âfor-Â4 in save opportunities this week, surrendering just one hit and one walk with ten strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched.  He struck out the side in three straight appearances as he saved Tides' wins on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.  A single by Durham's Daniel Robertson on Saturday was the only hit against Drake this week, but it didn't prevent him from closing the door on a 1-Â0 Tides victory.  Drake has now held opponents scoreless over his last 12 outings while climbing into a tie for 3rd  place in the IL with 10 saves on the season.Â
29-Âyear-Âold Oliver Drake is in his ninth season as a professional pitcher since being selected by the Orioles in the 43rd  round of the 2008 draft.  He enjoyed a breakout season in 2015 when he was named to International League mid-Âseason and post-Âseason All-ÂStar teams, won the Jim Palmer Prize as the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Year, and made his big league debut posting a 2.87 ERA in 13 appearances with Baltimore.  Drake is a native of Worcester, Massachusetts.
