Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Memphis Redbirds meet for the third time in their four-game series at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fireworks, presented by True Sky Credit Union, are scheduled to follow the game. Tonight's game will be televised on YurView on Cox (Channel 1333) beginning five minutes before first pitch...The Dodgers have lost four straight games for their second-longest losing streak of the season. They have also lost six of their last seven contests.
Last Game: Memphis scored six runs in the fifth inning on the way to an 8-4 win against the Dodgers Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers built a 3-0 lead before the Redbirds took the lead in the fifth inning for good. The Dodgers grabbed the game's first lead in the third inning. Tim Locastro led off the bottom of the frame and was hit by a pitch. Later with runners at first and second base, Edwin RÃ-os hit a double down the right field line to bring home Locastro for OKC's first run of the night. Will Smith followed with a sacrifice fly to score Kyle Farmer for a 2-0 Dodgers advantage. In the fourth inning, a RBI single by Locastro gave OKC a 3-0 lead. The Redbirds took the lead in the fifth inning after connecting on their first hit of the game. Patrick Wisdom led off with a double and scored when Ramon Urias singled on a fly ball to left field. Edmundo Sosa followed with a RBI single. Later with two outs, Tyler O'Neill doubled to bring home two runs and give the Redbirds a 4-3 lead. After an OKC pitching change, Carson Kelly connected on a RBI single and Wisdom's RBI single put the Redbirds in front, 6-3. Rangel Ravelo added a two-run single in the sixth for an 8-3 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, a RBI single by Locastro cut the Memphis lead to 8-4. Dodgers starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein (0-3) was charged with the loss while Memphis starting pitcher Connor Jones (1-0) picked up the win.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Logan Bawcom (1-1) makes his fourth start with OKC...In his last start Aug. 5 at Reno, Bawcom pitched four solid innings before running into trouble in the fifth. Although he was charged with five runs and eight hits, he picked up the win in the Dodgers' 12-9 victory. He issued one walk and had three strikeouts...Bawcom has spent most of his time this season with Double-A Tulsa, making 12 starts and going 4-6 with a 4.43 ERA, 42 K's and 19 walks over 61.0 IP...Bawcom signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers May 16 after making three starts with the independent Sugar Land Skeeters to begin the season...The 2018 season marks his third stint in the Dodgers organization. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 17th round in 2010 from UT-Arlington...He split the 2017 season between Triple-A El Paso (San Diego) and Triple-A Nashville (Oakland), going a combined 2-5 with a 3.31 ERA over 47 relief appearances...Bawcom made 31 appearances (12 starts) for OKC during the 2016 season, posting a 6-5 record and 1.92 ERA over 89.0 IP while holding opponents to a .216 average. In those 12 starts, Bawcom posted a 1.62 ERA...Today is his 11th career appearance and third start against Memphis (2-1, 1.98 ERA). He has made at least one appearance against the Redbirds each season since 2013. In two starts with OKC during the 2016 season, he tossed 12.0 scoreless innings while allowing just nine hits.
Against the Redbirds: 2018: 5-9 2017: 8-7 All-time: 173-160 At OKC: 97-67 The Dodgers and Redbirds are meeting for their final series of the season and second of the season at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...Memphis won the last series between the teams, 3-1, at AutoZone Park May 21-24, ending a streak of five consecutive series splits between the teams...The first three series this season were in May, with the teams splitting each of their first two, April 30-May 3 in Memphis and May 8-11 in OKC...Memphis has outscored the Dodgers, 61-55, through 14 meetings...The Dodgers have pitched shutouts in three of their five wins...On May 10 during an 8-4 victory, the Dodgers set a Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark record with six home runs in one game...Yesterday's game secured a win in the season series for Memphis, snapping a streak of five consecutive season series victories for OKC. This marks Memphis' first win in the season series since 2011.
Farm Fresh: Kyle Farmer collected two hits and scored a run last night to extend his current hitting streak to six games, batting .348 (8-for-23) during the stretch. He has also hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 13-for-39 (.333)...His two hits Friday night were singles, but he paces the Dodgers with 23 doubles. He has six doubles in his last nine games and 16 doubles in 31 games with OKC since July 1 - tied for most in the Minors with Seth Brown of the Double-A Midland RockHounds and Cooper Hummel of the High-A Carolina Mudcats.
Along the RÃ-os Grande: Edwin RÃ-os doubled twice and drove in a run Friday night for his fourth straight start with a multi-hit outing, and during those four starts, RÃ-os has gone 8-for-16 with three extra-base hits and three RBI...Over his last 12 games, RÃ-os is batting .349 (15-for-43) with six multi-hit efforts, six RBI, five runs scored and three homers.
Bat Breaker: After scoring a combined 17 runs on 33 hits Sunday and Monday, the Dodgers have been held to seven runs over their last three games, scoring in just five of 27 innings...Last night marked just the fifth time in the last 13 games the Dodgers scored more than two runs in a game...The Dodgers have tallied 43 hits over the last four games, but are 8-for-42 (.190) with RISP during that time...The offensive issues have been even more prevalent at home. In the team's last six games in Bricktown, the Dodgers have batted just .222 (43x194) and have scored a total of 13 runs, with two or fewer runs in five of six games. That includes a .214 clip with RISP (9x42) and just one solo home run. They've scored past the fourth inning only twice (three runs) and against opposing bullpens over the last six home games, the team is batting .141 (10x71) with two runs over 20.2 innings...The Dodgers have not hit a home run in six of the last seven games. They've been kept inside the park in four straight games, matching their longest streak of the season (third time).
Mound Maladies: The Dodgers have allowed at least five runs in six of the last seven games. During that time, they've allowed 51 runs in 59.0 innings, and opponents have combined to bat .323 (83x257). The Dodgers haven't been able to avoid the big inning, with the opponent scoring four or more runs in one inning five times, including once in four of the last five games...Over the last seven games, opponents have combined for 29 extra-base hits. The Dodgers had allowed two or fewer extra-base hits in 17 of the previous 18 games, including nine straight prior to Aug. 3...Things have been especially rough for the bullpen of late, as the relief corps has given up 23 runs over 19.1 innings, with opponents batting .400 (38x95) with four home runs.
Around the Horn: Even with an 0-for-5 night, Alex Verdugo continues to lead the PCL with a .341 batting average. It was just his second 0-for-5 game of the season (April 13 vs. New Orleans)...Last night marked the Dodgers' third straight loss when scoring first. The team is 14-14 the last 28 times scoring first after beginning the season 30-5...Jake Peter is 5-for-13 in his last three starts...Yesterday was the sixth time this season the Dodgers lost when leading by at least three runs, and it was the second time it's happened in the last four games.
