Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The offense erupted in Everett Friday night, as Family Weekend kicked off with a thunderous 10-3 victory over the Portland Winterhawks.
Cade Zaplitny opened the scoring 5:26 into the first period, banging in a rebound after a Dexter Whittle shot from the point for his 11th of the season. Jesse Heslop added to the lead with a backhander at 6:36, his ninth of the year. Though Gabe Klassen would answer for Portland in the frame, Austin Roest gave Everett a 3-1 lead at the end of one with a deflection for his 32nd goal of the year.
Matthew Paszkiewicz netted his first career WHL goal at 5:13 in the second period, tipping an Aidan Sutter pass in front of the net. Jackson Berezowski recorded his 40th goal of the season at 6:10 in the second, becoming the first Silvertip in franchise history to record multiple 40-goal seasons.
With the Silvertips on a 5-on-3 powerplay, Raphael Pelletier scored in both legs of the man advantage, rifling a one-timer home at 16:06 then slipping a backhander in at 17:11.
Vincent Lamanna added his fourth goal of the season at 18:11 for a 9-1 Everett lead at the end of two.
Zaplitny tacked on his second goal of the game at 11:55 in the third period, securing the third double-digit goal outing in franchise history.
Portland scored twice in the third period for a 10-3 final.
Tyler Palmer stopped 22 of 23 in the win, with Tim Metzger saving 13 of 15 in relief. Austin Roest led the way with four points on the night.
Everett first recorded a 10-goal game on Oct. 11, 2009 in a 10-4 victory at home over the Winterhawks. They later achieved it on Dec. 27, 2017 in an 11-0 win at Vancouver.
The Silvertips host the Seattle Thunderbirds tomorrow night at 6 p.m. for Navy Night. Tickets are available.
