
Pats Edge Rebels 6-5 in OT for Sixth Straight Win

Regina, Sask. - Alexander Suzdalev ended a thriller inside the Brandt Centre on Saturday night, as the Regina Pats edged the Red Deer Rebels 6-5 in overtime for their sixth consecutive win.
With the Pats trailing 4-3 late in the third, Borya Valis would score twice to give the Pats the lead. After Red Deer's Jayden Grubbe tied with with 51 seconds to play, the Pats got the extra point in overtime as Suzdalev picked up his second overtime winner of the season and the Pats fourth overtime win of the year.
Connor Bedard (1G-3A) and Stanislav Svozil (1G-3A) each had four-point games in the win. Parker Berge and Tanner Howe would each add a pair of assists while Kelton Pyne made 35 saves for his second win of the season. The Pats overcame yet another two-goal deficit in the second period, tying the game up at three before the Rebels took a 4-3 lead into the third. The Pats comeback win marks their 15th comeback victory of the season and their fourth straight win in comeback fashion.
The Rebels have now dropped five of their last seven games. Mats Lindgren tallied three assists for Rebels while Kai Uchacz recorded three points (1G-2A). Kyle Kelsey dropped his third straight start, making just 14 saves.
THE GOALS
First Period
RD 0-1 at 58 seconds - Franitsek Formanek (12), assisted by Mats Lindgren and Kai Uchacz // Formanek's wrist shot hit the post and went in past Pyne to give the Rebels an early 1-0 lead.
REG 1-1 at 9:57 - Connor Bedard (59), assisted by Stanislav Svozil (PP) // Svozil carried the puck behind the Rebels net sent a pass out front that went off a Rebels player's skate and to Bedard who kicked it to his own stick and sent a shot past Kelsey to tie the game up at 1-1.
RD 1-2 at 17:54 - Ollie Josephson (5), assisted by Dwayne Jean Jr. and Player // Josephson's original shot is stopped and he grabbed the loose puck, skated behind the net and wrapped the puck around and it caromed into the net past Pyne to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead late in the first frame.
Second Period
RD 1-3 at 9:47 - Kai Uchacz (46), assisted by Jace Isley and Jace Weir // The Pats were scrambling in their own zone and the Rebels make them pay as Uchacz put the puck past Pyne who got turned around in his crease giving the Rebels a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.
REG 2-3 at 10:13 - Stanislav Svozil (10), assisted by Tanner Howe and Connor Bedard // The Pats had control in the offensive zone where Svozil grabbed the puck and showed some nice patience and out-waited Kelsey and tucked the puck home to pull the Pats to within one at 3-2.
REG 3-3 at 11:30 - Riley Ginnell (7), assisted by Tanner Brown and Parker Berge // The Pats had a few opportunities at some shots and a pair of Rebels lost their sticks. Brown's long blast was deflected in by Ginnell past Kelsey to get the teams all evened up at 3-3.
RD 3-4 at 15:19 - Ben King (17), assisted by Mats Lindgren (PP) // The Rebels controlled the puck in the Pats zone and King got the puck at the top of the left circle and he fired home the powerplay marker to give the Rebels a 4-3 lead.
Third Period
REG 4-4 at 13:34 - Borya Valis (19), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Connor Bedard // On a beautiful passing play turned into a goal, as Svozil hit Valis with a great feed in front to tie the game up at 4-4.
REG 5-4 at 15:02 - Borya Valis (20), assisted by Parker Berge and Tanner Howe // Berge sent the puck along the left boards down toward the Rebels blueline to Valis who quickly wrapped the puck around and beat Kelsey to give the Pats a 5-4 lead.
RD 5-5 at 19:08 - Jayden Grubbe (??), assisted by Christoffer Sedoff and Kai Uchacz // With the Rebels net empty, the Rebels got the puck to the Pats net and the puck bounced around with Grubbe scoring a late one to tie the game up at 5-5 and sent it to extra time.
Overtime
REG 6-5 at 55 seconds - Alexander Suzdalev (35), assisted by Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil // Bedard got the puck deep along the left boards and all three Rebels players keyed on him. He sent a pass to Suzdalev who was back door and he wired the puck past Kelsey to give the Pats the 6-5 win.

NOTES
Connor Bedard scored once and assisted three others to reach 123 points on the season (59G-64A). He leads the WHL in goals (59), tied for first in assists (64), while first in points (123) and shots on goal (302). He has 31 goals, 27 assists, and 58 points in 18 games since returning from the World Juniors. He has 32 points (14G-18A) in 10 games since his 35-game point streak was broken on February 3.
Bedard now has 251 points in his WHL career, becoming the fourth fastest Pats player to reach 250 points, doing so in his 124th career game.
Stanislav Svozil scored once to tie his career-high of 10 goals and added a trio of assists. He has 34 points (5G-29A) in 18 games since returning from the World Juniors. He has 19 points (5G-16A) in a current 9-game point streak.
Tanner Howe picked up two assists and has 23 points (8G-15A) in his last 16 games.
Riley Ginnell scored for the first time since January 4th (span of nine games) and has points in back-to-back games (1G-1A).
Borya Valis scored twice for the Pats and has seven points in his last six games.
Parker Berge had two assists in the win, which was his second multi-point game of the season.
Tanner Brown has points in five of his last eight games (5A).
The Pats have won six in a row overall and 10 of their last 12 home games. Their six-game winning-streak is a season-best.
