Rockets' Win Streak Ends

The Kelowna Rockets two-game win streak was snapped by the Kamloops Blazers, who handed the Rockets an 8-1 loss on Friday night at the Sandman Centre.

It was the Rockets first time playing the Blazers since prior to the trade deadline. With a lineup featuring nine NHL draft picks, the Blazers fast-paced play was able to jump out to a four-goal lead through the first frame of action.

GAME SUMMARY

Logan Stankoven (30), Matthew Seminoff (25), Logan Bairos (8) and Jakub Demek (1) all scored for Kamloops to give the Blazers a 4-0 lead after the first period. In the final minute of the period Rockets starter Talyn Boyko was run over by a Blazer driving the net, Boyko remained in net for the final seconds of the period but was replaced by Jari Kykkanen to start the second frame.

Caedan Bankier (31) and Ryan Hofer (37) added to the Blazers lead in the second period.

Ethan Neutens (1) broke the Blazers shutout bid with his first WHL goal while shorthanded. Connor Levis (17) quickly responded for Kamloops while on the power play. Ryan Michael (2) scored another power play goal in the final minute of the game.

* Kamloops outshot Kelowna 53 to 22 * Talyn Boyko stopped 15 of the 19 shots he faced in the first period * Jari Kykkanen turned aside 30 of the 34 shots fired at him through the second and third periods * Logan Bairos was the game's first star, Connor Levis was the second and Jakub Demek was the third star * Kelowna was 0/4 on the power play, while the Blazers were 2/6 on the man advantage * The Rockets record is now 23-32-3-0
