Pats Ride Five Game Winning-Streak into Today

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats take a five game winning-streak into the second game of three this weekend inside the Brandt Centre as the Pats host the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

The Pats are coming off a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg ICE on Friday for their fifth straight win. The club completed their biggest comeback win of the season, overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the second. The win marks the Pats first victory against the ICE since their move from Kootenay, snapping a 0-18-1-1 stretch since the 2019-20 season.

Connor Bedard led the way with five points (4G-1A) including the game winner in the third, while Stanislav Svozil (3A), Tanner Howe (1G-2A) and Zack Stringer (2A) chipped in with multi-point games. Drew Sim was stellar between the pipes, making 31 saves for his 25th win of the season.

Regina is now 12-5-1 over their last 18 games since January 8, while also winners of nine of their last 11 home games coming in.

Meanwhile, the Red Deer Rebels snapped a mini two game losing-streak following a 6-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday at Westoba Place. The Rebles had a 4-0 lead after two periods of play before Brandon cut the lead to two in the third. Mats Lindgern tallied five points (1G-4A), while Ben King scored twice and Jace Isley, Kai Uchacz and Jayden Grubbe rounded out the offence. Chase Wutzke made 31 saves in the victory.

The Rebels will conclude their four game road trip tonight inside the Brandt Centre, playing the fourth game in five nights. The Rebels are 2-4-0 over their last six games since February 20.

The Pats are 12-5-1 over their last 18 games since Jan. 8, defeating Calgary twice (6-2 & 6-5), Saskatoon (7-4), Portland (4-3), Swift Current (5-2), Lethbridge twice (3-2 & 4-2), Moose Jaw (8-4), Medicine Hat (6-3), Brandon twice (4-3 & 6-3) & Winnipeg which comes following a three game skid from Jan. 1 - Jan. 6...during that time, they have outscored their opponents 85-to-71 (+14 goal diff).

The Pats have won five straight games for their longest winning-streak of the season...in fact, it's their longest winning-streak of two or more games since Jan. 9 - Jan. 14....during this time, they have outscored opponents 25-to-14.

Regina Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock picked up his 200th win as coach of the Pats on Feb. 11...sitting on 205 wins, he has passed Frank Mario (202) for third on the all-time wins list...he is one win away from tying Murray Armstrong (206) for second.
