
Cougars Collect Point in OT Setback with Chiefs

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars earned a point, however, fell to the Spokane Chiefs 5-4 in overtime on Saturday at the CN Centre.
Carlin Dezainde, Ondrej Becher, Ethan Samson, and Chase Wheatcroft had the goals in the overtime setback, while Ty Young made 35 saves on 40 Spokane shots.
Carlin Dezainde started the scoring with a hard-working effort in front of the net at 11:40 to give PG the lead. The Chiefs responded on the power-play when Berkly Catton threw the puck off the back of Ty Young and in to tie the game at 19:00.
In the second, a tip in from Ondrej Becher put PG back ahead by a goal at 2:30. Spokane answered back with two goals of their own, coming from Grady Lane at 7:53 and Will McIsaac at 10:18. Spokane took a 3-2 lead after two periods.
In the third, the Cougars came out flying. A power-play goal from captain Ethan Samson tied the game at 2:46 and then Chase Wheatcroft wired his 41st of the year shortly after at 5:11. Spokane didn't go away, however, as Berkly Catton came streaking up the middle and beat Ty Young to tie the game at 6:44. The game remained tied after 60 minutes.
It took just 28 seconds into overtime for Spokane to win the game as a Chase Bertholet bullet beat Young to give the Chiefs a 5-4 victory.

-Riley Heidt moves to 57 assists and is just three away from passing Jansen Harkins' single season record
